Charlestown Celebrates Grand Re-Opening of Cross Creek Station

August 29, 2018

On August 28, Charlestown, Erickson Living's flagship retirement community in Catonsville, Maryland, held a grand re-opening celebration for its Cross Creek Station Clubhouse, marking the completion of the first of a two-phase repositioning plan. More than 75 residents and staff attended the exciting event, which included a ribbon-cutting, commentary from community leadership, and a champagne and sparkling cider toast.

"All of us here at Charlestown have been eagerly anticipating this day," said Nathan Blumberg, Associate Executive Director. "This year, we celebrate 35 years of experience and excellence in serving the senior living industry in Maryland. The modernization of Cross Creek is just one example of how we are constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our current and future residents as the demand for our product offering continues to increase. It's very exciting."

After months of renovation, Cross Creek Station now features a beautiful new lobby space, with three distinct seating areas for conversation with friends. The warmth of the original space has been preserved by incorporating lots of earth tones and natural elements, all enhanced by improved lighting through the area. The renovation also doubled the size of the front desk in order to better serve the needs of Charlestown residents and their guests

Just off the lobby is a brand-new Flexible Fitness Center where Charlestown's Wellness team will offer Group Fitness classes, including 30-minute workouts focused on cardio, strength and flexibility. Residents will also have the option to use a selection of equipment or enjoy a virtual class on their own schedule.

A newly renovated Short Line Café will open in Cross Creek Station soon, offering a brand-new dining experience for residents.

"Charlestown is already an incredibly special community full of active and engaged seniors," said Adam Dickson, Associate Executive Director. "It is our hope that by enhancing the living spaces and amenities at Cross Creek, we can help all of our more than 2,000 residents live even fuller lives."

The second phase of renovations at Cross Creek Station will include enhancements to the Chesapeake Restaurant, Craft Room, Library, Game Room and Conference Center. In response to resident feedback, the Chesapeake Restaurant will be divided into two unique experiences—a Bistro area with a bar and casual dining, as well as a more formal dining room. These renovations are scheduled to begin in early 2019.
